Rain postpones USAR Pro Cup Throwback 225 to Sunday afternoon

HICKORY, N.C. – The ongoing feud between the Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour and Mother Nature on Throwback weekend persisted into Saturday night.

Instead of letting the CARS Pro Late Model Tour feature run to completion like last year, Mother Nature brought the on-track action to an end on Lap 32 with a light but persistent rain shower. This forced CARS Tour officials to postpone the remainder of the USAR Pro Cup Throwback 225 at Hickory Motor Speedway to Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET.

When the red flag was displayed in the 100-lap PLM Tour feature, Cole Butcher was showing the way after overtaking polesitter Connor Zilisch early on. The race had been slowed twice by caution flags; one for a wreck on the initial start and the other for a spin involving Matt Caprara in Turn 2.

Hickory track regular Kade Brown is set to lead the CARS LMSC Tour feature to the green flag after putting down a lap of 14.918 in qualifying. Joining Brown on the front row is Mason Diaz, with LMSC Tour points leader Carson Kvapil, three-time champion Bobby McCarty and Ronnie Bassett Jr. rounding out the Top 5 starters.

The pit lane will open for all CARS Tour competitors at 11 a.m. ET, with grandstands opening to the public at noon. Once racing resumes, the PLM Tour competitors will complete the final 78 laps of their event before the 125-lap LMSC Tour feature commences afterwards.
