Hickory Motor Speedway Regular Mitch Walker Pays Tribute to Speedway Legend Tommy Houston in Throwback 276

Mooresville, NC 7/22/21 – Mitch Walker who has been a staple competitor at the Hickory Motor Speedway will pay tribute to another driver who called the speedway his home track throughout his career.

 

Walker will sport Hickory, North Carolina legendary driver Tommy Houston’s #6 Southern Biscuit Flour scheme he competed with in the Busch Series from 1985-1989.

 

Houston had some of his best years in the Busch series with this scheme scoring 11 victories, 13 poles, and 59 top five finishes. His best career championship points finish came in 1989 as he finished second in the standings to Rob Moroso.

 

During the time with the Southern Biscuit Flour colors from 1985-1989, Houston drove to three wins at his home track of Hickory Motor Speedway.

 

Houston ended his career with 13 NASCAR Cup Series starts, 417 Busch Series starts with 24 wins, and back-to-back Hickory Motor Speedway track championship in 1975 and 1976.
