Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour Event Preview: VisitHampton.com 125 – June 5, 2021 at Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway – Hampton, VA

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 1, 2021) – For the third consecutive season, the CARS Late Model Stock Tour will be welcomed to the City of Hampton, Virginia for the VisitHampton.com 125 at Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway. The .395 flat track has produced nothing but stellar finishes in the tour’s first two visits to the track, and with another strong entry list assembled, Virginia Late Model Stock Car fans should expect nothing less this weekend. Layne Riggs’ history at the track has him being the heavy favorite, but veteran Deac McCaskill, who won the 2019 event, knows what it takes to run up front at Langley. The quiet story of the weekend might be two-time series champion Bobby McCarty, has the opportunity to blow open the door on his championship lead at the season’s halfway point – once the dust settles at Langley. McCarty currently holds a 15 point lead over McCaskill. If McCarty produces another strong showing and those closely trailing suffer misfortunes, it could be the moment McCarty needs to make it three.

QUICK HITS

Riggs Runs Langley

The CARS Late Model Stock Tour has visited the Langley Speedway just twice in its seven years of existence. In both of those occasions, Layne Riggs has been the one to beat at the .395 track. A season ago it was Riggs who won the 125 lap race after starting from the second positions. It could have been the second time the Bahama, NC driver won at the facility, had it not been for last lap contact between Riggs and Bobby McCarty in 2019, allowing Deac McCaskill to sneak through to the inside on the final turn and steal the victory over them both. If Riggs can live up to his average starting position of 1.5 and average finishing position of 3.00, he will once again be the car to beat at Langley.

Matt Waltz makes it Six Seasons between Races

One of the names that helped kick off the inaugural CARS Late Model Stock Tour back in 2015 was Newport New, Virginia driver Matt Waltz. Waltz had anticipated in competing in the full season schedule; however, after just two events Waltz opted out of competition and hasn’t been seen since. Until now that is. The Virginia driver is entered in his family owned #2W entry and has expectations of competing in a few other events this season. His goal for this weekend is getting back accustom to competing with the tour regulars, and post a solid finish at night’s end, in order to build some momentum for additional events down the road.
