Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour Event Preview: Puryear Tank Lines “Old North State Nationals” pres. by GXS Wraps – April 24-25, 2021 – Orange County Speedway – Rougemont, NC

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 20, 2021) – The biggest event of the CARS Late Model Stock Tour season roars to life this weekend as the Old North State Nationals returns to Orange County Speedway after a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The two-day event features the best Late Model Stock Car drivers, and even some of the best Super Late Model drivers this season with heat races setting the field on Saturday, in preparation for Sunday’s 200 lap feature event paying $30,000 to the race winner. This year’s show could be the best field of competitors in the three-year event history. Former ONSN winner Josh Berry will attempt to make it back from the NASCAR Xfinity race to compete in the show. A pair of Super Late Model invaders, Bubba Pollard and Stephen Nasse will mix things up, not to mention two-time defending champion Bobby McCarty and home track hero Layne Riggs are just a few of the big names going for the big payday this weekend.

QUICK HITS

Riggs Could Rock Rougemont

Layne Riggs has been one of the hottest drivers in CARS Tour competition over the past season and half. The Bahama, North Carolina driver, who calls Orange County Speedway his home track, was the only driver a season ago to score more than a single victory. In addition the youngster started on pole twice in 2020 and already started from the pole position once this season. Riggs has never started worse than 9th at Orange County in his CARS Tour career, and has a single victory at the track in 2017. If he can continue his qualifying ways, and is able to maintain strong track position, the odds are in heavy favor of this hometown kid visiting his local bank with a big check to cash.

Ronald “The Thrill” Hill Back in Action

Ronald Hill announced his retirement from full-time CARS Tour competition prior to the 2020 season. The veteran of 58 CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour starts, which is second all time, will compete in select races in 2021. The first one of those is this weekend at his home track of Orange County Speedway. Hill has only two top five finishes in his career one of which was at his hometown facility in 2017. While he hasn’t won a race yet, he and his Gardner Marsh Racing contingent of strong followers have never lost a party on race weekend. The biggest feel-good story of the Old North State Nationals for many in attendance would be to see Hill and his #74 machine in Edelbrock Victory Lane.

Puryear Tank Lines and GXS Wraps Supports Short Track Racing

In the world of short track racing these days, it is hard to find companies such as title sponsor Solid Rock Carriers who supports this sport in such a big way. Both the series and competitors have benefited from the support of Solid Rock Carriers’ involvement. The same can be said for this weekend’s Old North State Nationals event sponsors. Both Puryear Tank Lines and GXS Wraps have made huge strides to support the 2021 edition of the race as well as multiple competitors. Both companies utilize the event as a hospitality event for employees and customers alike. In addition, both will have a heavy presence throughout the weekend growing their business via various activations. Teams, fans, and fellow business owners should take advantage of the promotional opportunities by the companies that support the sport of short track racing.

The Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour is one of the premier short track series in the United States. Drivers compete in Late Model Stock Cars and Super Late Models at the best short tracks across the Carolinas, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia.
