QUICK HITS

Sweet Baby Ruth its Throwback 276 Merchandise!

Every year the Throwback 276 event features historic branding made into merchandise to capture the past and blend it with the new. This year will be no different as the Throwback 276 event merchandise will be based off the 1992 Baby Ruth sponsorship colors of Jeff Gordon #1 machine in the Busch Series driving for Bill Davis Racing. Both hats and shirts will feature the red, white, and blue colors – the same as Gordon’s ride, but with Throwback 276 writing in Baby Ruth font. In addition to the hats and shirts, fans will be able to purchase a paint scheme poster that will include the historic paint schemes that each team will run for the throwback weekend.

Fan Fest Returns to the CARS Tour for Throwback 276

One thing missing from CARS Tour events over the past year and half as been the on-track fan fest, allowing fans to step on to the track and meet the series drivers while get autographs individually. Saturday night fans will not only get their chance to talk with their favorite drivers, but they will have the opportunity to do the same with six honorees of the sport who will be a part of the festivities as well. Scott Riggs, Joe Nemechek, David Reutimann, Bosco Lowe, David Green, and Larry Pollard will all be in attendance and signing autographs as part of the Fan Fest.

Four and No More

Outside the headline of the colors and the pageantry of the Throwback 276 event, teams will have major factor to deal with throughout the race weekend. Due to limited supplies by slow production of Hoosier race tires, teams will only be allowed to purchase four tires that will be used for the race only. No teams will be allowed to purchase additional tires at the track at any time throughout the race weekend for practice or testing. This means teams will be responsible for bringing their own practice tires for the weekend. Some teams feel like it will help close the gap on competition, while other teams feel like it hinders their chances of winning by not getting an opportunity to see how their machines will perform on fresh rubber.
