Puryear Tank Lines becomes presenting sponsor for season-opener at Southern National

A new era for the Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour kicks off with the support of an enduring partner for the series.

The season-opening event at Southern National Motorsports Park for both the Late Model Stock Car and Pro Late Model divisions will be known as the Puryear Tank Lines 225, which continues the company’s relationship with the CARS Tour that has existed since the first race back in 2015.

Donnie Puryear, who runs Puryear Tank Lines, has always valued his company’s relationship with the CARS Tour and short track competitors, which is why it was crucial for him to expand on that partnership while the series undergoes a significant period of growth.

“Puryear Tank Lines is extremely proud to sponsor CARS Tour events,” Puryear said. “We love trucking, family and racing, so this is the perfect partnership to work with. We’re looking forward to building on our relationship with the CARS Tour in 2023.”

The company’s involvement with the 2023 season-opener means a larger payday for Late Model Stock competitors.

A purse of $12,000 will be distributed to the drivers who take the green flag in the Late Model Stock portion of the Puryear Tank Lines 225. This includes a $3,000 raise for the second place finisher for a total of $6,750 and an increase of $1,000 for third place, which will earn $3,750.

The bolstered payout for the Puryear Tank Lines 225 continues a long-term investment the Puryear family has made into short track racing over the past few decades.

Along with sponsoring dozens of CARS Tour races, Puryear Tank Lines has adorned the cars of drivers such as 2016 LMSC Tour champion Deac McCaskill, defending NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series champion Layne Riggs and Jeb Burton, among many others.

CARS Tour founder Jack McNelly said racing needs more people like Puryear who are willing to invest into the sport and hopes their involvement will persist as the series continues to establish itself as the premier short track division in the southeast.

“A lot of what we have been able to do would not have been possible without Donnie Puryear,” McNelly said. “He has been such an avid supporter of not only our series, but the drivers who are just trying to get to the track every week. It is a privilege to have Puryear Tank Lines as a sponsor and I am confident we’ll have them around for years to come.”

Another successful year of collaboration between Puryear Tank Lines and the CARS Tour is set to get going in just a few weeks, with the green flag set to fly at Southern National at 3 p.m. ET on March 11.

Additional details about Puryear Tank Lines’ involvement in the CARS Tour will be announced in the coming weeks.
