MOORESVILLE, NC (August 20, 2019): Over the summer months the Late Model Stock division of the CARS Tour has been the showcase race at standalone events. That all changes this Saturday night with the return of Super Late Models to the 3rd Annual Mid Atlantic Classic at Orange County Speedway. QUOTES:

Plott Planning his Repeat but with More on the Line:
A season ago, Georgia native Kyle Plott did the impossible and started from the rear of the field after missing qualifying due to replacing a head gasket on his #4 Super Late Model, and won the Fall edition of the CARS Super Late Model Tour race at Orange County Speedway. Now in 2019, this weekend’s Puryear Tank Lines “Mid Atlantic Classic” pres. by Thrifty Tire, will be the only time fans at the Orange County Speedway will see the ultra-fast Super Late Models parade around the 3/8th mile track. With $10,000 up for grabs the event should ramp up in competition and intensity, however; the race will still be the same four tire, 150 lap race it was last September. The approach for Plott, remains the same, no matter the winner’s check.

“I’m ready to get back to Orange County, it’s been about a year since we’ve ran there. It has become one of my favorite tracks because it is just so racey with multiple groves, you can run from the top, all the way down to the bottom. Plus the surface is really worn out making the fall off of the tires pretty big, so it’s a pretty challenging place to get the balance of the car where you want it. I think coming back to Orange this weekend with the purse being raised to ten grand, and knowing that I won this race this same time a year ago, is good confidence to have when we walk in the gates Friday afternoon. Even though I’ll be in a different car this year, I still believe we have a great chance of winning as long as we can get the same balance with the car we did last time.” Kyle Plott – #21P CAT Recovery Services Ford

Bromante to Make CARS Tour Debut
Gio Bromante will make his CARS Tour debut driving for Anthony Campi Racing in Saturday night’s $10,000 to win Puryear Tank Lines Mid Atlantic Classic presented by Thrifty Tire at Orange County Speedway. The New York native won the first two Southern Super Series races including the 43rd Annual Rattler 250, the biggest win of his career. Now Bromante will look for a new challenge at Orange County, as he takes on a talented Super Late Model field at a track he and his team have never competed at until this weekend. Despite that Bromante is looking forward to the new challenge and a change of racing in the Carolinas.

“I have always wanted to run with the CARS Tour and this is a high paying race with lots of prestige that the series seems to be building. Our schedule allowed us to add this race, so it just makes perfect sense to make this race my CARS Tour debut. The track itself is a historic place and always has a great crowd from what I’ve seen. I’ve watched a lot of film and the place looks like a multiple groove track that will make for great side-by-side racing. I’ve been paying attention to what the CARS Tour does and it looks like a very professional series from top to bottom. They provide a ton of exposure for the drivers, and the competition is pretty unique because they attract teams from all different areas.” Giovanni Bromante – #81 Bromante Landscaping & Design Toyota

“The Thrill” Hill Hoping Hard Luck is Behind Him:
The 2019 season has been nothing less than difficult for Ronald Hill and his #74 Gardner Marsh racing team. Accidents and mechanical failures have resulted in six DNF’s out of the nine races so far this season, leaving the Rougemont, North Carolina driver 16th in points. With just two races remaining on the schedule, one of which is this weekend at Orange County, Hill cannot wait for the season to be over with in hopes of new luck to arrive. Despite the year so far Ronald and his race team plan to make the most of things in their final two starts of the 2019 season. A good finish at his home track in front of friends and family would feel like a win to him Saturday night.

“We have had ourselves a pretty rough year. It just seems like we can’t get our luck changed around, no matter what we do. Hopefully this is the weekend that all changes. If we could just get a good finish up inside the top seven or so I would be ok with that. It has just been one of those years you have sometimes. We’ve only got a couple more races left this year, so we plan on making the most of them. We plan on giving them hell no matter what.” Ronald “The Thrill” Hill – #74 Gardner Marsh Chevrolet
