CARS PLM Tour race at North Wilkesboro cancelled

The Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour’s plans to participate in the revival of North Wilkesboro Speedway received a major shakeup late Tuesday evening.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, XR Events and the promoter of North Wilkesboro announced that the planned Pro Late Model feature for Aug. 20, which was to be co-sanctioned by the CARS Tour and JEGS CRA All Stars Tour while also including the Carolina Pro Late Model Series as a support division, had been canceled with no plans to reschedule the event.

A contingency plan is currently being developed by the CARS Tour staff to fill the vacancy left by North Wilkesboro’s decision. Details on a replacement event will be announced by the series in the coming days.

Despite the cancellation of the Pro Late Model feature at North Wilkesboro, the CARS LMSC Tour event at the historic venue is still on as planned for Aug. 31. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be among the 30 drivers who battle it out across 125 laps for an opportunity to add their name into the record books as a North Wilkesboro winner.

  1. It is disheartening to hear this when the very guys who love racing and are doing this because of the nostalgia of bringing back racing to this venue and being a part of this have been disregarded in every way for the almighty dollar. Again the drivers and crews get the shaft. They have been so excited about being a part of this and now it will not happen. I guess they needed an Earnhardt or a Busch to make it worth their time for the little guy who actually is the grassroots of this sport that made it what it is today. I hope more people voice their opinion about this and show their dismay that this All American sport of short track racing is now in the hands of people whose only concern is money. They surely could have come up with a plan to make it happen and brought lasting memories of having been a part of this. Here’s to leaving out the small guy again. I’m saddened by the decision

  2. That stinks!! Was looking forward to seeing granddaughter run in the Carolina Pro Late Model Series then Daddy, Son, and Daughter would have all run at North Wilkesboro.
